There have already been 3 cases of West Nile in Minnesota. Be careful when you are out there.
About West Nile:
West Nile virus is a newly emergent virus of the family Flaviviridae, found in both tropical and temperate regions and the cause of a number of conditions in humans, animals and birds. The most serious effects are fatal encephalitis or meningitis. It is spread by mosquito in humans but is not person-to-person contagious otherwise, no vaccine exists.
The virus was first noted in the West Nile District of Uganda in 1937. It was found in equine populations in North Africa and France in the 1960s, recent epizootics of disease occurred in Morocco (1996), Italy (1998), and the United States (1999). Human viral encephalitis outbreaks were also reported in Romania (1997), Russia (1999) and in North America (New York City, 1999)
